Menu Planner

Morning All,

You know that feeling when you start a project that is amazing then it all comes crumbling down, well here is my most recent one.

My friend Ros from Sew Delicious  recently posted her menu planning tips, I had been using my iPad but just found that it really wasn't keeping me on track and I wanted something in the kitchen.

So I cut my vinyl and stuck it on the fridge.

Then I literally spent hours designing these little menu items, printed them, and the printer ran out of ink!

I decided it was a minor set back and carried on.

Made the magnets using my Xyron Sticker maker with the magnetic cartridge and started taking pictures, the weather has become cold and dark this week and for the life of me, I could not get a decent picture.

I carried on, and took a picture anyway and low and behold I chose the only one with a spelling mistake, which I did not notice until I had finished writing the post.

Here are many of the others all with correct spelling, I checked!

If you want to make one grab your supplies below and get a cookin'

DIY Delight or Disaster?

The Menu Planner is a delight! I am using it and it is helping keep me organised and on track. I am disappointed about the printing side of it (and the mistake) so the magnets are a disaster. But they can be fixed as soon as I get to the office supplies place and get some ink so all in all, no biggie.

Thanks for reading,

Mel xo

  1. That is awesome!! Such a great idea. What is a Xyron Machine - I've never heard of it!

  2. I must be illiterate, I didn't see a spelling error. Sometimes my brain sees what it knows it's supposed to see and doesn't see misspelled words. My brain did not see margarita's on that list so it must be a disaster! :) Super cute idea!

  5. Wow. What a great idea. You are on an organizational roll. Do you still get the 'what's for dinner' questions? And, where is the mom's night off from cooking magnet :)

  12. What a great project! I menu plan but it's hand written on some paper and pegged to the calendar, not nearly as fancy as this!

  15. I go through periods where I plan and others where I don't. Planning certainly reduces stress! I need to get myself organised again. But magnets wouldn't work here...the kids would probably play with them :)

  16. That is way too cute Mel. You put a lot of effort into that beauty! I keep my menu list in hubby's brain. Luckily for me he does most of the cooking; luckily for all of us....lol.

  17. I think it's cute! Are you really serving WheataBix (or whatever that Brit stuff is)? And you actually have cereal on the menu? See, that's my problem...I cook a whole meal at least 6 nights a week...no wonder I'm tired!! I'm old and never learned to tell my husband..."eat cereal"...BRAVO for the emancipated women out there!
Planning is good though.....I do it, and have a shopping list to match so I can shop at the same time that I'm planning projects....I'm on automatic in the grocery....

  18. Mel, this is such a great idea, and they turned out so cute. I'm terrible about planning meals, don't even try any more. But with just two of us, it's easier to just fend for ourselves most times.

  22. Well I certainly missed this one altogether! What a great idea and I wish I'd thought of it when my kids were small. Now...it doesn't matter what I fix or when, because more often than not, Sam get called out to work at dinner time! I don't know why you didn't just haul that fridge out to the sunlight to get a good picture Mel!!!

  23. Once apon a time I planned meals (like back in the 1990's). Sometimes I go back and use the plan. It is pages in front of my cookbook. Each page has a days menu with the cookbook name and page number for the recipe and a shoppping list on back. Works pretty good the days and weeks I don't feel in a planning mood. HA.
